Brainiac – Brainiac: Transmissions After Zero (DVD)

$19.95
An exploration of the seminal 90's rock band Brainiac, its creative force Tim Taylor and the tragedy they overcame. In the mid 90's the Dayton, OH music scene became a hot spot generating worldwide buzz from the influential indie rock being produced there (The Breeders, Guided by Voices). Arguably the most innovative of them all was the band Brainiac, led by musical genius and insanely charismatic front man Tim Taylor. The band was opening for Beck and slated to sign a major label record deal when Taylor was tragically killed in a bizarre auto accident leaving his family and bandmates to pick up the pieces. Over the past two decades Brainiac's music has gone on to influence the likes of Nine Inch Nails, The Mars Volta, The National and countless others. This film explores the band's music, legacy, massive influence on pop culture and how people survive and cope with the loss of loved ones.

D.O.A. – Smash The State (DVD)

$9.95
Incredible live footage from the formative years: 1978-83. This DVD from Canada's legendary punk pioneers features exciting full live tracks from the band's formative years: 1978 - 83. It includes all the raw emotion, activism, humor and deadly renditions of all their greatest songs from the classic line up of Joe Shithead, Chuck Biscuits, Randy Rampage and Dave Gregg. The always-influential D.O.A. was to many people, their very 1st exposure to the blistering social phenomena of punk rock. This DVD documents why D.O.A. influenced artists such as Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Henry Rollins, Rancid, David Grohl, NOFX, Bad Religion, and many more. 'I really wanted people to see the original version of D.O.A. performing. You know, the completely raw band that went out and made a mark in this world. So I gathered together some of the best footage I could find and came up with Smash The State. Most of the footage is taken from shows in San Francisco and the East Bay. This makes a lot of sense, as San Francisco became D.O.A.'s home away from in the late seventies and in the eighties.' - Joe Keithley
